FRANKENSTEIN by Ryan Bullard

I don't really know too much about what's going on with DC comics and their 18th overhaul of their universe, and the little I do know seems ,um, not so great. Then again, I've never been a big DC fan, so I hope fans like the changes. Anyway, here's one of the few DC characters I like outside of Batman and Kirby's stuff. I would totally pick up some Frankenstein awesomeness.

BATGIRL by Gerard de la Costa

Honestly, I'm the worst when it comes to reading continuity in comics and have no idea what's going on with the new DC reboots ( I just end up buying the trade paperbacks months down the line for way cheap ;-D ). Research for the new Batgirl has taught me that it's still Babs Gordon under the cowl and she CAN WALK! Also, her tailor for the new costume went crazy with the bat symbols.

WONDER WOMAN by Ken House

The DCnU launches this week, so here's my favorite super character, the politically conscious earth mother/rage-fueled spartan, Wonder Woman!

RED ROBIN by David Cutler

And the new Red Robin goes bob, bob, bobbin' along!

As of August 31st the old DC Universe is no more, and here at Spitballin' we're celebrating/mourning the transition by drawing some of the characters in their new costumes and what have you. After Aquaman (yes), Tim Drake's my favorite hero in the DCU, and I have to admit his DCnU look is going to be an adjustment. It seems like every time they re-do Tim's costume it gets less Robin Hood and more little robin redbreast. First he lost the green, then he got a feather bottomed cape, then a beak, and now he's borrowed Hawkman's wing harness. In 5 years time he'll be lobbing baby blue Robin Egg bombs.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS by meaghan carter

It's funny that the theme this week would be the new DC reboots, after I just spent a weekend sitting next to the DC booth and their looping guitar riff advertising such. But Red Hood and the Outlaws! I'm pretty sure if I talk about all these characters and how I feel about them, I'll go on forever. But this is a title I'm looking forward to this month!

SUPERMAN by Michael Walsh

Finally a return to Spitballin'. Everyone was crazy busy prepping for FanExpo in Toronto and we had to take a bit of time off.

Nonetheless we are back and starting off we have a collection of some DCnU characters. David decided on each of our picks and I got the new superman. I'm not too sure what is up with this costume as I haven't had too much time to check the solicits for these issues but I do know that Grant Morrison is writing action comics so it is sure to be mind-bending.
