ZIBARRO by David Cutler

We're back, kinda sorta. Monthly, I guess? We'll do our best.

All-Star Superman is my favorite comic and Zibarro is one of my favorite bits in it. Totally counts for Bizarro week/month.

DOCTOR DOOM by David Cutler

Spitballin' lives! We're all a lot busier than we were when we started this so it's been slow going lately, but here's Doctor Doom for Doctor Doom week/month/season.

Shameless plug department: Look for Robyn Hood vs Red Riding Hood #1 from Zenescope Entertainment in comic shops March 27th, with art by me and a story by Pat Shand! That's something you should do!

Uncanny X-Mas by David Cutler

I've been pretty busy this holiday season so I'm using this snowy Wolverine illustration I did last month for my Christmas post. I'm sorry.

LT. UHURA by David Cutler

Star Trek week! As a very young boy I used to watch TOS reruns Saturday afternoons on the CBC, so while I essentially know nothing about the program I still manage to have a decent amount of affection for it. I'm the kind of Star Trek fan who doesn't know Uhura's first name and really liked the J. J. Abrams reboot. The hated kind, I guess.

WRECK-IT RALPH by David Cutler

The Inwreckable Ralph is gonna wreck it! I haven't had the chance to see this movie yet, but I look forward to the possible future where I do.

ELEKTRA by David Cutler

I really shouldn't have finished this tonight for various reasons but I couldn't sleep so here we are.

It's Melanie's first week choosing the theme and she picked a great one. Here's me formally welcoming Melanie Schultz and Christopher Yao to the Spitballin' team. I guess I figured I needed more people to make me look bad every week ho ho ho.

PARKER by David Cutler

Spitballin' proudly presents: Man in Suit with Gun!

I kid. Though I consider myself a pretty big Darwyn Cooke fan I know nothing about Parker and haven't read his adaptations. I guess I'm a Darwyn Cooke poseur. I think maybe he's like a James Bond if James Bond were a criminal--is that fair?

Sorry about the crappy scan, I can't scan marker at all.

SAILOR MOON by David Cutler

I almost didn't post this because I t came out a little too similar to Meaghan Carter's piece, but then I remembered my trustee motto: "Screw Meaghan". That's sort of my motto anyway, I had to clean it up a little.

I was an un-ironic Sailor Moon fan during its original run, gender demographics be damned. I remember wishing they'd make proper action figures rather than the terrifying noseless dolls that Irwin toys put out instead. It was like the 90s version of being a Brony, I guess.

I'll always have fond memories of Sailor Moon, wish I'd done her more justice here.

GRENDIZER by David Cutler

Do not ask me why UFO Robot Grendizer is playing an axe-shaped guitar. I do not know why UFO Robot Grendizer is playing an axe-shaped guitar.

This is Daniel Wong's first time choosing the weekly Spitball theme, so it seems like a good time to welcome him aboard. He's showing us up all over the place and I hope it continues until the end of time.

SWAMP THING by David Cutler

Swamp Thing,
You are Amazing!
You fight everything... nasty
Swamp Thing!

Swamp Thing's one of my most embarrassing comic book blind spots. I've read maybe one, two issues of the Alan Moore stuff. Mostly I know him from the short-lived animated series, which is not something I like to admit at parties.

THE THING by David Cutler

I was nearly done this one when I realized the Thing only wore this costume for like 3 months in the summer of '96 before being killed by Onslaught in that year's big crossover event. He got better, of course, but this costume was never seen again. Made an impact on a young me, anyway!

Ben's a favorite, for sure.

ADAM STRANGE by David Cutler

If I had to pick a Strange to have and to hold in sickness and in health, it'd be the good Doctor Stephen over at Marvel. But the Distinguished Competition's 50s spaceman is pretty cool, too.

AQUAMAN by David Cutler

Aquaman and Spider-Man are my two favorite superguys. With Spider-Man I'm like, that's a perfect superhero design. With Aquaman it's more, that's a perfect superhero design, why am I the only one who sees it? Not strictly true, but it breeds a slightly more intense bond.

I love you, Aquaman.

SPACE GODZILLA by David Cutler

Godzilla was one of my childhood loves. I'd watch the original black and white movies Sunday mornings on TBS every chance I got, and by now I think I've seen most of them up to the mid-90s or so. I was challenged to draw Space Godzilla (From Godzilla vs Space Godzilla) by Ken and Ryan since I was the only one who thought he was cool. I still think he's cool.

PRINCESS PEACH by David Cutler

Always been more of a Princess Daisy guy, but Peach is pretty okay too. I'm sorry I covered this in marker before scanning the lines, like a fool. I'll pay for it in the afterlife.

SPIDER-MAN by David Cutler

Pretty much the latest Spitballin' post ever.

We made it a year. Contrary to appearances, I'd like to believe we can make it another.

EDIT: Removed the terrible background colours. It was eating away at me. I love you.

ADVENTURE TIME by David Cutler

It was my choice this week and I was the kind of jerk I hate, switching my pick all the time. I settled on Adventure Time in the, because it's my favorite cartoon and in my top 5 things on TV at the moment as well.* It's genius and warms the cockles of my brain's heart.

I put Jake in his booties from the original short. And then I stuck in Lumpy Space Princess for reasons unknown. Wish I'd squeezed in Beemo, too. And I wish I'd made Jake a pug, he's more of a pug in my imagination, I think. I kept seeing him as a bulldog in places and my brain got all jacked up.

Nah, I dunno. Either or.

*I haven't seen the new Avatar show yet, I know it's floating around the dark corners. Who knows what the future will bring.
